The Tyrrhenian Sea and the Gulf of Salerno can be seen from the southern Italian coastline known as the Amalfi Coast. It is situated north of the Cilentan Coast and south of the Sorrentine Peninsula. The Coast is named after the town of Amalfi, which serves as its primary historical and political center, and is renowned throughout the world for its Mediterranean landscape and natural diversity. It is a well-liked vacation spot for jet setters. The Amalfi Coast was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997 and now draws thousands of tourists from around the world each year, regardless of their means.
